The sparkly UK-based trio Twist Helix return in “Pulse,” their latest 80’s style glitz rocker.
The showy band sounds darker and more sinister in this cut, with Spanish-born Bea Garcia sounding absolutely haunting. With the track running just under 4 minutes, this is a surprisingly rich track that features an instrumental full of twists and nuances as Garcia croons devilishly.
In my last review of their 2016 single “Decade,” I criticized the band for coming off as a little too safe and conventional. Here, the band finally breaks off their restraints and sounds majestic as they are gloomy. It is hard to deny that Twist Helix sounds much more polished, mature, and comfortable throughout this track, complete with a stylish tom-tom interlude that drives the energy the track right to the end.
We would love to hear more from the relatively unknown troupe, who seem to be slowly but surely coming into their element. “Pulse” feels like a teaser for what’s to come for Twist Helix, who sound as if they are starting to find their sound. “Pulse” is a resounding single that signals more to come.
