New Charting Singles
Hey 24Our readers and welcome back to our weekly chart recap.
This week is going to be a little different. In the past month, we’ve continually seen artists like Justin Bieber, Imagine Dragons, and Twenty One Pilots soar to the top of the charts, and remain steadily within the top 5 for weeks at a time. However, we’ve been missing out on new, rising artists and/or singles that have made great strides in their first week on the Billboard 100. This week will remain dedicated to the songs and artists that have not yet topped the charts in the past month, but have put out great singles definitely worth a mention.
DJ Khaled Featuring Rihanna & Bryson Tiller
Number 4 on the Billboard Hot 100
DJ Khaled has done it again. He’s managed to put out another stellar radio hit, featuring massive industry names. This song, in particular, is an ode to both Latin and good old club music. Wild Thoughts’ sampling of Santana’s classic, Maria Maria, gives the track some Spanish flair. Rihanna and Bryson Tiller’s vocals transform the single into something very current, and appeal to pop and R&B lovers alike. It debuts on the charts at number 4, which gives us the feeling this track will experience the same success as Khaled’s other most recent release, I’m The One.
Calvin Harris Featuring Pharrell Williams, Katy Perry & Big Sean
Number 52 on the Billboard Hot 100
Another industry giant, DJ Calvin Harris, is known to produce a chart topper or two. Feels is a multidimensional, genre-crossing track that is bound to experience success among several musical audiences. Harris, known primarily for his high profile collaborations (ex. This Is What You Came For ft. Rihanna), has once again put together a line-up worthy of a number one hit. This song, and its undeniable island, summer vibe, will be unstoppable in the coming months. The track debuted on the charts in the 52nd spot, and I only see it going up from here.
Number 6 on the Billboard Top Rock Songs Chart
Unsurprisingly, debuting on the rock charts in the sixth spot this week is alternative greats, Imagine Dragons. Walking The Wire is in many ways different than the other tracks off their newest album, Evolve. This single is undoubtedly more along the lines of being a very upbeat ballad, an alt-love song if you will. Its upbeat tempo and more raw instrumental will most likely make this track a summer favorite. Walking The Wire is following suit with the albums other singles in that it has already achieved impressive chart success. And with ID’s track records, it will only see greater numbers.
Well, this has been another brief recap of what’s popular and new is today’s music. Are you enjoying Imagine Dragons’ new album? What do you think of their changing sound? Do you think Wild Thoughts and/or Feels could potentially be the tracks on the summer? Let us know in the comments below!
